I completely agree about starting with the music. I have also had the same experience when I improv of wanting to not repeat tricks. I notice that I get stuck in my head when I do that though and I don't flow as much which I don't like even if I do like the challenge. and, Like Khan, i've had the same problem with missing a music cue. . . xo yes, especially nice to read this piece and see how similar our process is.
